Ogunquit Beach, March 28, 2009

Preview

Let's take an afternoon stroll on Ogunquit Beach and maybe even catch a glimpse of sunset. Afterwards, we will find a place downtown to enjoy some beer/wine and pizza. The walking should be only a few miles and take a couple hours.

NEXT HIKE: March 28, Ogunquit Beach
MEETING SPOTS: Manchester/Mall of NH parking lot in front of the EMS store... but park a ways more toward the middle between the road and the store so we can stand a bit apart from the shoppers.  2:30 p.m.
Ogunquit Beach Parking Lot at 4:00 p.m
TRAILHEAD: Ogunquit's Main Beach parking lot is 1/8 mile east from the center of town on Beach Street. To get to the beach, go up Rt. 1 past the Ogunquit Playhouse then turn onto Beach Street and there is a public lot which stops at the Main Beach. Across the lot is the Norseman Resort.
HIKE LEADER: Cynthia Tokos

** Cynthia is both a new member and a new hike leader -- kudos for stepping in to lead something early on perfect for spring warm up. Go easy on her folks, don't ask her what the elevation gain is going to be on the beach. --Diane

Trail Report

Seven intrepid hikers met at the beach Saturday evening at 4 p.m. to brave the terrain and the elements. We kept losing each other on the beach as several of us got deep into conversation and lagged behind the others at different times during the walk. We fed a couple loaves of old bread to the seagulls at the other end of the beach. Going out was easy... coming back was "frosty". We ended the evening at Bessie's where we dripped and thawed out; overall a successful "hike" by all.
